trip to DC

During the short 6 months I have been working on my business idea, I have had the opportunity to travel to many places and meet many people. However, I don’t think there will me many opportunities in my life where I can be mixing and mingling with of some of the most world-changing inventors. My design team and I attended DC to pitch our shoulder brace inventor and business idea to a panel of judges including the inventor of the microphone, the inventor of the laser printer, and the inventor of the first balloon catheter among others. After the pitch competition, we had the opportunity to attend a meet-and-greet event with these inventors to learn about their lives and stories as well as talk to them about our plans. Having the chance to talk with them on a one-on-one level was truly humbling and inspiring! And if getting this networking opportunity wasn’t enough to make our trip to DC worthwhile, we also ended up taking third place in the nation in the competition’s undergraduate division. Overall, this was an amazing event and I encourage all young inventors to put their ideas to the test and hopefully earn the chance of a lifetime to be a part of the Collegiate Inventors Competition in the years to come!
